Just installed a fresh copy of 9.04. Everything is running fine, only thing is the shutdown or reboot of my laptop. It hangs in the end and I have to use my powerbutton to shutdown manually. Any ideas? My laptop is a HP Compaq NC6120.

Exact same issue here except im running a Dell XPS m1530
I too experience this issue.
If you press Ctrl+Alt+F7, does the last line say Deconfiguring network interfaces by chance?
When/where should i press Ctrl+Alt+F7?
When the laptop hangs during shutdown.
Nothing seems to happen.
Does it mention something about "acpi=force" at boot time? If so then you'll probably have to add this part to your boot file.
Same problem on Dell XPS M1330. Shutdown logs out and it just forgets to turn the power off?! If left on for a while the screen gets lines across it. I did not have this problem in 8.10 and it occurred immediately after upgrading to Jaunty. Btw... Ctrl-Alt-F7 did nothing. I would appreciate any help.
I got the same problem in Fujitsu S6510 laptop........
