Never mind, problem solved, I feel really silly. I just noticed now noticed that for some reason the upgrade to gutsy commented out the first line in my /etc/inetd.conf. I fixed that and now I have hotmail again.

I can't find any info regarding up-to-date webdav policies. I sent hotmail support an email requesting information on WebDAV access, I'll post the response once I get it. I've had my account since 2002 and I have webdav access. The newest article I've seen is from 2004. Hopefully, I get a response, but if it's an arbitrary process, I doubt I will.
If you don't have webdav access, I suspect that you wouldn't be able to access your account from Outlook Express or Outlook. Can anyone verify this?
I'm using Gutsy and it works for me. However, I make it a common practice to set it up using xinetd instead of inetd. Around page 10 or 11 is the configuration that I used for 7.04 and 7.10.
I use xinetd because most new applications (like vmware) require it which disables inetd. I think inetd will eventually be phased out. If the original poster doesn't include xinetd, I'll probably make my own how-to and link it to this topic for inetd info. My only problem is that I'm looking for refinement of my xinetd settings because I know a lot of what I have in their is unnecessary.
I find it is taking ages to download my messages. Is this an accepted limitation of this method of bolting hotmail onto evolution?
Got Evolution to handle my hotmail. One problem though, it is not showing any junk mail. Any ideas?
I couldn't find an obvious way to download the junk mail folder in evolution. However, if you really want the junk, then set your hotmail account preferences to accept most (there isn't one for all) emails. Also delete your "Safe" and "Unsafe" lists.
After that, you can use filtering in evolution to separate the emails into junk and good emails if you wish.
Sorry, that's the best I can come up with. If anyone knows how to download from all folders, I'd like to know the trick
I don't really want junk, it's just that receipts and other important matters end up there. You don't know how to transfer address books do you?
it says it can't find the folder "inbox"...
-Ok I tried to set mine up with the tutorial and didn't make it past the first command
I'm running Gutsy...I'll post all the error message that I get When I type in "sudo apt-get update" from the Terminal I get :

=And assuming my system was already up to date cause it downloaded alot of updates after I installed gutsy I decided to skip the install command and put "sudo apt-get install inetutils-inetd" and still got the same error :
joey@joey-desktop:~$ sudo apt-get install inetutils-inetd

-So it seems as if I gotta run that dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem...I have no idea what that is or how to fix it
needless to say I'm still very new with Ubuntu
Thanx in Advance.
