Re: Howto Install 32 bit Firefox with Flash w/sound and Java for AMD64

    I have 3 questions.

1- The Mplayer plugin doesn't work, it just stays loading and then stops when it is finished. Why is that?

2- Why does your script download and install the 1.4 Java? Java 1.6 is out, and probably is much better. 1.5 already is.

3- Is there any way I can install a language pack or something like that to change the language of the .deb firefox? I managed to do translate it downloading another version and just unpacking it over the files, but that seems a little harsh.

ok i entered the aboutlugins command and got this from friefox32. also when i open the kgs page and then hit the play go link it closes my firefox32 browser. flash still doesnt work in firefox32 but i believe its because of the nswrapper, so dont worry about helping me with flash. what should i do next kilz?

Re: Howto Install 32 bit Firefox with Flash w/sound and Java for AMD64

Hi, thanks for the script. It works great. However I have some problems, for instance, the scrollbar and the status bar look ugly (it looks like the gtk theme changes just for firefox32)
The other problem is that it doesn't integrate with nautilus, for example when I download a file and want to open, it doesn't at all, or when I click to open the folder of the downloads, nothing happens. Is it supposed to be like this? is there any workaround?

I installed 32-bit FireFox on my 64-bit Edgy system using the script linked on the first page. I opted to install Java, Flash, and the MPlayer plugin for Edgy. The installation did not give me any errors.

I am able to run firefox 32-bit (using it to type in this forum), but no flash content is showing. I have disabled my addblock plus for the time being, but this has not helped. I typed "aboutlugins" in the address and the flash section reads:

    Code:
    Shockwave Flash

        File name: npwrapper.libflashplayer.so
        Shockwave Flash 9.0 r31

    MIME Type Description Suffixes Enabled
    application/x-shockwave-flash Shockwave Flash swf Yes
    application/futuresplash FutureSplash Player spl Yes
It seems to me that things should just work, but I'm not seeing any flash content. I would appreciate any help.
Take a look at the red bold text. It says you have nspluginwrapper installed on the plugin. Nspluginwrapper is for making a 32bit plugin work on the 64bit browser. It will not work on the 32bit browser.

What version of Ubuntu are you running?
    1. What site dose this?
    2. java 1.4 works for most people. You can install later versions if you want.
    3. Sorry, but I cant support every language. There is a section on the howto with directions on how to change languages.

According to the Browser, when you dont have the 64bit browser running first is shows everything is working. When the 64bit browser is running , and you open the 32bit browser, it opens a 64bit , not a 32bit. This is normal.

    Code:
    MIME Type Description Suffixes Enabled
    * All types .* No
    Java(TM) Plug-in Blackdown-1.4.2-02

    File name: libjavaplugin_oji.so

    MIME Type Description Suffixes Enabled
    application/x-java-vm Java Yes
    application/x-java-applet Java Yes
In the java section , the plugin is listed, the version , and I see all functions are enabled because they have a yes. Are you saying that even when you
    1. Turn off all open instances of the 64bit browser
    2. Then start the 32bit browser
    Java doesnt work?

Sorry, but some themes are not supported. My sole goal here is to give plugin functionality. I have tried to make things look good, but sometimes, it doesnt happen.
Are you saying that after you have downloaded a file or folder, that nautilus refuses to open that file or folder? What kind of files?

Ah-ha! Well, Flash isn't working in 64-bit firefox either... I've now uninstalled nspluginwrapper and re-run the script from page one, but I still am not seeing any flash content. The output of "about:plugins" is the same: "File name: npwrapper.libflashplayer.so". How do I fix this problem?

    Thanks for the help!

I can't open anything, I just click, and nothing happens... so i have to go manually to the downloads folder and open the file...
About the gtk theme, at least is it possible to change to something better looking?

That doesnt sound right, because once a html, archive, or other file is on your computer it doesnt know how it got there. Files saved to one place should open as well in one directory as any other. The files saved on the desktop should open just as well as ones in a download folder.

Are you running Feisty by any chance?
