    Download suggestions for a newbie?

Hey everyone, I'm new to ubuntu, after some reading on the internet I decided to install 12.10 through wubi so I can go back to windows if necessary. I was wondering if anyone had any popular suggestions for programs and packages to download, as well as repos to add. Thanks in advance,
    Thomas

Hello and welcome to the forums. The first place i would suggest is to check out the software center, if you don't see what you want use the search feature, lots of apps. there.

What are you going to do with your new ubuntu; multimedia, video, music, office work, accounts, programming?

Decide that and there will be lots of suggestions, I'm sure.

You install what you need, not what others install and you don't need

One thing I would unistall / disable is the Amazon search.
If you don't make backups of your important data, your data is obviously not important to you.
