The BBC have got some very close links with Microsoft:

Disappointing, isn't it? The BBC spends a lot of time flapping its lips over the latest Microsoft press release, but its news staff doesn't even seem to know what they rely on, for their own servers.

Morning show hosts for television rarely do thorough research; working in broadcasting, I've come to learn this rather quickly. Take, for example, hard-hitting television journalist Al Roker ( just typing that hurt...) and his interviews with Batman: The Dark Knight actors.Despite the fact that there were countless billboards, trailers and posters the size of buildings, he did not seem to understand that the film was simply titled The Dark Knight. To this, I say, "Congratulations on failing! F+ for accuracy!" to Mr. Roker and the above-mentioned BBC host.
Linux systems are like LEGOs :
they are infinitely customizable
and limited only by a user's imagination.
It was on News at 10 too.

That's an interesting read. It's not surprising. I could have written that myself after using Linux for the first time. I just didn't see the point, you know? I was fine with Windows, so what was I supposed to do with this? I can't even get DVD's to work!
It was Mandriva I was given some years ago. I think it lasted a couple of days on the hard drive purely out of politeness to the chap who gave it to me. I tried some others but I never saw it as a replacement for Windows for quite some time. Once I'd realised that I could use it comfortably, in fact.
As has been mentioned, familiarity is the key, but that familiarity shouldn't be the sole preserve of MS. 24 hours is no time with a new operating system.
