VirtualBox - Best anti-virus?

My extra Norton 360 license keeps disabling and re-enabling in my Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit VM. Is there something that is less buggy on VB or is there a way to fix my Norton? I use this VM instead of a Windows partition so when I have to browse the company Exchange Server for example, I need it. Works great but I really want it as secure as I can make it. Since Norton isn't very cooperative, if I can't fix it, I would like to get a Firewall & anti-virus to replace it with. Note that this VM already has Spybot Search and Destroy, (resident) on it.

I most humbly solicit your thoughts, ideas, hints and suggestions.

Thanks. This is what I've done and it seems fine. Definitely less problematic than Norton.

I use MSE in win7 too (at least as long as that partition's there).

One of the tech support people at the local university (where every student is required to have a laptop) recommendded mse to me because

a) no antivirus programs actually really work anyway
b) it's the only one that has never caused problems on their network.

That seemed like a strong argument to me ... plus they don't flash those stupid bubbles trying to upsell you.

In windows you also want a couple of on demand malware scanners.

Avast Free or AVG 2012 Free. Norton, MacAfee, Kasperly ... are all to long and slow.
Then Malwarebytes and Spybot for the malware.
