That folder is not the place where java is stored. Its a folder left over from the install process you should be able to safely delete it. That you were able to move it and java still worked makes me positive of this.

Ok it works now. However, I noticed one thing: spellcheck does not work on firefox32. Do you have the same problem?

That's interesting. When I use 64-bit firefox, spellcheck works as it should. On 32-bit firefox mispelled words do not get underlined like they should in text fields such as the one I'm typing in right now to post.

Thumbs up Re: Howto Install 32 bit Firefox with Flash w/sound and Java for AMD64

Thanks for hints but I'm preferring to have 64-bit Firefox on my system.Except it is native for x64, it also should be less hackable by script kiddies since there is very few exploits for x64 systems and it's harder to hack browser due to this fact (as well as there is very few peoples who is able to write x64 exploits).

So, I'm preferring solution with nspluginwrapper. I hope someone of universe masters will be kind enough to put this package to repository so users can get it without being IT pro's.Of course 32-bit flash is sort of security hole but attack surface is still smaller than with 32bit Firefox+32bit flash.

P.S. Special fu^H^H thanks to Adobe who claimed MULTIPLE platforms support but still fails to prove their words as usually.

I would use ndispluginwrapper but the last tutorial on it didn't work for me. Could you give me a link to the tutorial you followed?

The 64bit browser is built off the same code as the 32bit browser. So security should be the same. If we use your logic, the 64bit version will be less secure because fewer people are looking at it.
There is one problem with nspluginwrapper (other than its hard to install, hard to get it to work, and can crash the browser on some sites) The lack of java plugin support.

Between error 13 and 17 i pressed enter as nothing happened for over an hour. im not a coder so i cant help track this one down sorry. Im about to try the manual install but i hope this helps track down the bug anyway. ill report back on any manual install problems.
Actually its tempting to not use Java on my C2D 64 bit machine and just use my old 2.4Ghz P4 for it lol. This has been painful.

Edit Ok a manual install worked but it looks like......... Anyone know how i can make it look the same as my 64 bit Firefox? Im guessing its a theme but which one? For now it looks poor so ill only use it to play java games. Im now trying to find where to whing to sun that they dont have a 64 bit Linux Java plugin or .debs and should have. I think we should all complain its not like Ubuntu is that rare a distro and 64bit is starting to come into use more widely and much faster than 64 bit 'doze which im certain they support

    1) Installed 32-bit libs:
    sudo apt-get install ia32-libs lib32asound2 lib32ncurses5 ia32-libs-sdl ia32-libs-gtk gsfonts gsfonts-x11 linux32

    2) Added repository - see http://www.janvitus.netsons.org/repository/

    3) Installed nspluginwrapper and flash as described on http://www.janvitus.netsons.org/2007...-flash-player/

    Now flash seems to work...

Caveats: repository has other software as well, some versions are newer than current un Ubuntu but some are beta. You may want to remove this repository from sources later(when nspluginwrapper installed).

Note: install command to nspluginwrapper must be given from user who is willing to use browser.I.e. you should issue it as normal user, not as root (unless you want to run as root with flash)

As a warning to 32bit firefox users. Installing the nspluginwrapper to the .mozilla directory in your home folder will make flash stop working on 32bit Firefox. Also if you need java support, nspluginwrapper doesn't have it.
