    i used to run conky on hardy and now im on karmic and i kinda miss the conky on my desktop. but conky community really grew. there are really good stuff that i dont get right now.

    can you point me in the right direction on how to add a image on a conky?
    Pretty much everything you are going to need to know about conky can be found on Conky Hardcore located here

    To use an image in cokny you need to be at least running 1.7.1.1 if I remember correctly. 1.7.2 is in the karmic repos and should suit you just fine.

    To use the image variable see the below example:

    Code:
    ${image ~/path/to/image.jpg -PxP -SxS}
    where "P" equals position (X and Y) and "S" equals size in pixels.

    If you have any other questions post them in this thread. We are here to help.

    EDIT: Looks like I made a small error in the code I gave you. Thanks to Bruce for pointing it out for me.

    It should read as follows:

    Code:
    ${image ~/path/to/image.jpg -p 00,00 -s 00x00}

    Without specifying a size the graphs will not cause conky to widen they will just goto the edges, no farther.

    Yes, that link explains the that with pad_percents 2 above TEXT the values will have 2 decimal points and the ${goto xx} will act on the decimal point.

    However there is another command that Jackzor needs:

    top_name_width

    Width for $top name value (defaults to 15 characters).
    ie:
    Code:
    top_name_width 7
    TEXT
    ... will limit the processes names to 7 characters allowing for exact spacing with goto's.

    See attached.

    Have a nice day.
    Bruce

    EDIT: Looks like a GREAT addition to that page.
    THANK YOU, Jackzor & djyoung4, for making me aware of this fault

    Page updated at the bottom: ${goto}, ${offset} & ${voffset} and again THANK YOU guys.

    Some of you conky geniuses know how to combine the if_existing or if_mounted variable with londonali's ringscript?

    So if_mounted "external disk" -> show me ringscript
    If not -> show nothing.

    You have to call for the ringscript using

    lua_load ~/ringscript
    lua_draw_hook_pre ring_stats

    ABOVE the text-section, so how do you let the rings appear/disappear with if_something?

    You can't do it at the moment.

    I think kaivalagi was going to look into it, I know that I was also planning on spending some time researching but that never happend.

    Well, I think I finally got mine mostly done. There are still some things I'm not satisfied with, but they deal with things that haven't been programmed in yet, so they're on hiatus for now. I figure it's about time I shared my .conkyrc and screenshot. Nothing groundbreaking going on here, though.

    Thanks... been there and reading some basic stuff to refresh me again using conky. I check my version of conky installed on my system and it is 1.8.0~rc2
    will this be fine or should i install the 1.7.2 instead?

    i will try to import a picture to my conky using that script you gave me hope i get it right...

    btw i read about putting a script on my home folder called "imlib2.lua".
    Did that... is that necessary for an image to be imported on conky or the script you gave me is just fine without that script?
