I've noticed that a facebook icon appears when veiwing threads, that I've never seen before, is anyone else seeing this? I'm running Chromium Version 34.0.1847.116 Ubuntu 14.04 aura (260972). The facebook disconnect extension doesn't seem to be working any more.

I block it with ghostery.

Disconnect will also block it and a lot of tracking sites. https://disconnect.me/

I was using Ghostery too but it is sort of like NoScript but not quite as bad. But Ghostery prevents many videos and stuff that I want to see from appearing. Even if you pause blocking, but it is still good.
Disconnect is great. But has given me issues with a few things.Ghostery is nothing like no script. I use firefox for the add ons and freedoms. But Chromium is seriously like 5x faster for me.. Wish it was the other way around. YOu may want to avoid the cookie section in ghostery and just stick with the trackers on first page.

I didn't mean NoScript was just exactly like Ghostery but what I did mean was it will prevent videos, comments, etc. from appearing at all on sites where you want to see a video or read the comments. NoScript is a major pain and I got rid of it a while back. Had been going with Ghostery but got fed up with what I just mentioned. It is a few of the trackers on the 1st page of Ghostery that cause the videos, comments, etc. not to show. It blocks more than just trackers. Disconnect will block most things that you want to block. It even has a Facebook, Google and Twitter counter at the top to show how many things have been blocked by Disconnect. I have on Firefox WOT, Disconnect, AdBlock, Facebook Disconnect, Google Disconnect, Twitter Disconnect, BetterPrivacy (to erase the flash cookies), Biscuit (to remove regular cookies). Both BetterPrivacy and Biscuit have options to "opt in" cookies you want to keep and an option to remove all others upon shutdown, which I do. And for convenience I have Tab Control installed to preserve tabs when more than one is open like Firefox used to behave as default. Most of these are also available on Chromium. I use both depending on which way the wind is blowing.
I used to use NoScript, but a lot of sites were not usable, especially some e-learning platforms, and that is part of my job.. Ghostery works fine for me
I use a combination of AdBlock (not Adblock+) and Ghostery -- and, it works great. The 'trick' with Ghostery is knowing which Beacons and Widgets to 'allow'.

I whitelist this site, so yes, I've always seen the Facebook icon. If you'll remember, when it first appeared, right after the site was hacked and rebuilt, I asked about it over in the 'Forum Feeback & Support' forums, and everyone said not to worry about it. LoL
