    Smile problem with printer

I just upgraded to 8.04 and went to print a doc, and nothing happened. I noticed that the system recognized the printer (Brother DCP-115) but nothing works. I thought printing would work out of the box. What do I have to do now.

Maybe your driver is corrupted/broken? This thread may help you.

This might be a stupid suggestion but check to see if it did not print to a file. It gives you the choice to print to file or to use your printer.
I'd rather be lucky than good.

I have already tried the recommended drivers and they worked with 7.10, but they won't install on 8.04.I got: 'lpadmin. The printer or class was not found' I can't post the output cos the copy/paste doesn't work either.

Thanks, but the 'print to file box was not ticked. I can't install drivers i used in 7.10, and the system can't find them either.

I didn't see any choice of printing destinations, actually ... nothing happened at all, not even a 'file printing ' icon. nothing. And i can't load the drivers as i could on 7.10... puzzling
