Thread: KingBuntu OS

    KingBuntu OS

    Hi folks,

I'm creating this tread both to promote and to get some feedback at my custom Kubuntu distro.

It is called, as the title say, KingBuntu OS, or KBOS for short.

    The website is:
    http://gregpitta19.wix.com/kingbuntu-os

So, if anyone can please take a look, report back here for typos, or any other problems I'd appreciate.

If someone actually get compelled to download and test it I'd be exultant!

Also attaching some screenshots of the distro. They are also available on site pages.

Thanks for posting but I think you'll find use of " ---buntu" is restricted to approved versions.

There was an offering initially called 'mabuntu' (Ubuntu with Mate d/e) that changed to 'mateu' very rapidly!

I didn't know that... Are you sure? I saw some Derivatives in the Wiki that are not all that official that carry the --buntu.

But if that is a real problem I'll just change to KBOS. Or get it recognized...

Do you know anyone I should contact to iron this out?

This example "Prefixes, such as “ThaiBuntu” should also be avoided. Any other naming scheme will require explicit permission from us."

Comes from the very lengthy link here: http://www.ubuntu.com/aboutus/trademarkpolicy I think you need to have a look there to start with.

Thank you Megaptera. I recognize now that I must be more careful with the branding.

The site is down to avoid further complications. And I will get in contact with canonical trough the trademark form.

This has never been tested in court. Many countries wouldn't inforce it.

here a brand name has to have 2 letters dfferent. so you can't make Nike without a license but you could make Naike.

Ubuntu won't go. as it wouldn't Kubutnu. But Kingbuntu should go. Kingbu even more.
Read the easy to understand, lots of pics Ubuntu manual.
Do i need antivirus/firewall in linux?

I would try a distro with a title that sounded like "King-Boo".

With that wallpaper, perhaps "boo" would suffice for a name ?
