    Exclamation Maverick "stutters" frequently

    I have Lucid and Maverick, both Kubuntu, installed on separate partitions. Both updated to current packages (Sep 26, 2010). Every thing/device in Lucid works fine.

    Maverick "stutters" frequently. It happens in all KDE, KDE+openbox, LXDE. Some examples:

    (i) In a command shell, I type "ls", several seconds later you see the output. I have top running in another window. Load average below 0.90.

    (ii) In a multitab browser, I click on a tab. Does not get raised for several seconds.

    There are no suspicious messages in dmesg/ messages/ syslog/ kernlog.

    What is happening? I saw other messages about mouse freezing etc. In my case, the mouse pointer never stops responding to mouse movement. The clicks, however, are ignored several times.

    System: Biostar N61PB-M2S, AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+, 2x2GB RAM, etc. uname -a => Linux sunshine 2.6.35-22-generic #33-Ubuntu SMP Sun Sep 19 20:32:27 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux
