[HELP] HP Compaq nx6325 Ubuntu 10.04 - Headphones error

    Hello everybody,

I am running lucid on a HP Compaq nx6325. I've modded it a little bit but only in terms of appearance and some basic applications (ACYL, CPLAY, FINCH and GUAKE to be precise). All is well aside from one issue; the headphones do not cut sound from the laptop speakers so I'm in the bizarre situation of listening to both headphone and speaker output. I think I remember this being a problem in karmic but I can't be entirely sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it is of any use; whenever I use CPLAY and put in headphones, the CLI stops functioning and I have to restart the program each time. This problem, however, does not occur with Rhythmbox.
