Can anyone recommend software for Lucid, that is similar to MS Visio and MS Project? I have switched over to Ubuntu and need programs like these.

You may find a lot of alternatives to Windows programs on OSAlt and alternativesTo sites. For example alternativesTO lists several alternatives to Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Project.

My personal favourite for diagrams is Dia.

Gantter is nice for a Project like setup.

Dia is great for Visio, also there is a flow chart/drawing app for OpenOffice.org, not as great as Dia, but still is consistent with the OpenOffice.org suite.
