Can't watch online TV using Ubuntu

I've tried several tools including realplayer for Ubuntu/Linux (the deb package) but I cannot seem to get any channel playing.

I wonder if this is impossible with Ubuntu...

Thinking it to be a codec issue, I even tried this link in response to another link on this forum:http://linuxowns.wordpress.com/2008/...ecs-in-ubuntu/

But nothing has worked. The link above has some commands for the terminal. It starts running and crashes with an error.

    BTW, I'm on Ubuntu 8.05LTS.

    Any ideas are highly valued.

    Thank you all!
In the past I built solutions looking through a Window. But now I see how big the world is.
