Virtualbox + Mount ISO = Kernel Panic

I get reproducible kernel panic whenever using VBox 3.1 non-free version, but only when I use its media manager to mount an ISO.

I've posted in a thread on the vbox forums, but no one seems to want to answer: http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=25787

Has anyone else experienced this or know of a fix?

    Host: Karmic x64
Guest: Vista x86 (but largely irrelevant because without being able to mount an ISO, I can't install the OS...)
