The Community Cafe
The Community Chat area is for lighthearted and enjoyable discussions, like you might find around a water cooler at work.

Almost any non-tech-support topic may be discussed here. Discussions on religion and politics are not allowed, except for politics directly related to free and open source issues. Any topic or discussion that causes problems or drama will be closed. This area is intended for fun and community building, not arguments. Please take those elsewhere. Thanks!

Re: How do I reduce abdominal fat?

& don't forget that too much protein is bad for your kidneys...

& kidneys can't repair themselves.

Not quite, but it does slow down your metabolism.

Skipping breakfast has a similar effect to starving yourself. It slows down your metabolism because your body conserves energy and burns only what is absolutely necessary until fuel becomes available.

What I have learned is that decades later we find that due to this hard physical work/training, we have worn out our connective tissue to the point where we become far more prone to contracting certain inflammatory diseases, i.e. Arthritis due to the fact that inflammation attracts calcium to our joints with the worn out cartilage; we may (I did) get chronic tendinitis, & other diseases of this ilk.

These diseases often hide out, out of sight, & wait for many years before they spring their gorilla attacks on us.
True, but this is also related to what you eat (IIRC a lot of acidic foods will 'attack' your colagen, etc.) and impact. One reason why I think that cycling and swimming are far better for your body, long term, than running and hitting things.

BTW handy, you have tried glucosamine, right? Its helped out with some of the minor niggles I get now and again. Chinese medicine might also be worth a look, while it is totally different to western medicine they are very clever. Mind you, there is the old joke that 'chinese medicine works because it tastes so bad that body cures itself to avoid a 2nd dose' LOL.

I was into good nutrition, did a semester at naturopathic college & got some good solid basics.

Yep, gave it another go in the first half of this year. I didn't notice it making any changes for me.

I gave it a go a few years back, & I agree, the stuff that came out of the funny tea pot was putrid tasting. She was an excellent practitioner, but too far away & too expensive for me to continue with.

I begrudgingly accept the fact that we all wear out sooner or later.
