Unhappy Increase the Ripping Speed of an External CD/DVD-RW Drive

I'm trying to rip a few CDs onto my computer but my external CD/DVD-RW drive (Samsung SE-S084) that I just bought rips at 0.5-0.6X the speed and I have to wait over a hour for one CD to finish ripping.

How do I change that, because the drive can rip at a much faster rate?

    Thanks in advance.

Did you solve your problem? I'm thinking of buying that same drive and
I'd like to know if it can be made to run well on Ubuntu.

I get the same awful results on Windows, so I don't think it's Ubuntu's fault. Regular-speed CD playback works fine though.
