Hola Juan,
Tal como dice Adrian, una buena opcion es ir a www.ubuntu.com y bajar la ultima version (9.04). Lo bueno es que Ubuntu tiene lo que se conoce como LiveCD. Bajas el archivo, que pesa como 600mb, lo quemas a un CD, seteas tu PC de manera que arranque desde el CD y arrancas con ese CD en el lector. Asi podras probar Ubuntu y darte cuenta si funcionan todos los perifericos de tu máquina. Saludos,
