Media keys doesn't change tha volume actually

    Hello
I have a cheap remote control for my computer. It has mouse and keyboard functions. The problem is that when I press volume + / - or mute on my remote control, I can see the notification at the top right corner of the desktop, but the sound doesn't actually change in any application (Songbird, SMPlayer, Totem etc). May be the media keys control the wrong channel/mixer, I don't know.
I am using Pulse Audio with ALSA mixer and Creative SB Audigy.

Did you try assigning the media keys in System -> Preferences -> Keyboard Shortcuts?

If the notification is working does he need to do so?
I think maybe it's related with the channel?

I think the same, but I don't know how to change the channel, controlled by the media key.

2nd mouse button over the volume icon->preferences and you get with something like:

I had this very same problem. Posted about it a week or so ago with no help :/ I know when I first installed Jaunty (9.04) my volume buttons worked perfectly. Not sure when, but after I read about Linux users experiencing quite volumes I followed a guide to boost my volume and ever since my buttons don't work. I see the volume bar in the top right corner when I push the buttons, but they dont effect the actual volume. Hope somebody can help us.

Oh and I just tried both of those suggestions and unfortunately neither worked.
