    Mount -a failing (after many steps to get mount working)

    When I type mount -a I get

    wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on //storage/PUBLIC,
    missing codepage or helper program, or other error
    (for several filesystems (e.g. nfs, cifs) you might
    need a /sbin/mount.<type> helper program)
    In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
    dmesg | tail or so

    Here is my fstab

    # /etc/fstab: static file system information.
    #
    # Use 'vol_id --uuid' to print the universally unique identifier for a
    # device; this may be used with UUID= as a more robust way to name devices
    # that works even if disks are added and removed. See fstab(5).
    #
    # <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
    proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
    # / was on /dev/md0 during installation
    UUID=807e431d-1e23-46bf-813a-ac8507ef8d33 / ext3 relatime,errors=remount-ro 0 1
    # swap was on /dev/sda3 during installation
    UUID=06827695-5f6a-4b9c-8a75-115b85cfcc48 none swap sw 0 0
    # swap was on /dev/sdb3 during installation
    UUID=2aead1f6-6094-4752-b117-5d7143a044b2 none swap sw 0 0

    /dev/fd0 /media/floppy0 auto rw,user,noauto,exec,utf8 0 0
    //storage/PUBLIC /media/ScanBay cifs guest,uid=1000,iocharset=utf8,codepage=unicode,uni code 0 0

    It says I can't post because I have 10 images and limit is 8 but I have no images so I'm breaking this post up into 2 posts.

    I'm so close to getting everything running

    Linux Noob of course.

    Re: Mount -a failing (after many steps to get mount working)

    I installed smbfs

    I have a new error:

    ~$ sudo mount -a
    mount error(5): Input/output error
    Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g.man mount.cifs)

    and my smbtree is not what I expected:
    MAXMANIA
    \\WORKSTATION workstation server (Samba, Ubuntu)
    \\WORKSTATION\print$ Printer Drivers
    \\WORKSTATION\IPC$ IPC Service (workstation server (Samba, Ubuntu))
    \\STORAGE-0F05

    to windows my share drive is //storage/PUBLIC which is not in my smbtree but \\STORAGE-0F05 is (what ever that is)

    This is an NAS btw
