I am an absolute newbie to Linux and Ubuntu. I just installed Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid, I think) on my Dell Inspiron 2200. Everything is going smoothly so far, except for connecting to the internet.
My wireless card is a Broadcom BCM4318, and is not recognized by Ubuntu. I have tried going the ndiswrapper route by using this guide- http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=285809
However, I am stuck on the very first part:
When I go to System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package Manager and search for ndiswrapper, nothing shows up. What can I do to solve this?Download ndiswrapper from Synaptic
* System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package Manager
* Search for ndiswrapper
* Download "ndiswrapper-utils-1.9" and "ndiswrapper-common" (Edgy Users may only have 1.8, this is fine for the howto - someone tell me if edgy ndiswrapper has or has not been updated
