    Angry Suspend/Hibernate backport from 9.04

My production system Sony Vaio VGN-CS15GN/B with Ubuntu 8.10. I don't get my Suspend and Hibernate work on this version.

For testing purpose, I installed 9.04 (Alpha2) in another partition and found that both Suspend and Hibernate works fine. In 9.04, kernel is 2.6.28-3 where as in 8.10 it is 2.6.27-9.

My question is how can I get this Suspend/Hibernate specific kernel code change done in 8.10 itself? (I don't want to upgrade to 9.04 at this stage of development).

Apart from this I have other such changes (such as laptop special function keys, Mic mute issue, finger print reader issue) also to track and backport to 8.10 (as an activity to learn). Please let me know the Ubuntu's way of getting backport the changes? OR is it the lates plain vanilla kernel compilation and upgrade will do?
