Question File-Roller broken and maybe Nautilus too

Hi, after googling around I came across this poster,
    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=652311

he has the exact same problem I'm having, except no one has solved it, and the thread is read-only.

The guide in question is at http://forum.compiz-fusion.org/showthread.php?t=6199

I had it all set up but I did not like how it worked, so I got rid of the patched nautilus and reinstalled nautilus normally via apt-get.

Now, when I try checking properties of a file anywhere, nautilus dies and restarts. When dealing with an archive, anything I do to it causes nautilus to restart.

Any help is appreciated. Also, I'm running Ubuntu 8.10 Gnome version 2.22.3

Hah yes I saw that. I've already gotten rid of the patches and did a fresh install of nautilus and file-roller. But now I cant open the properties of any file, I'm not sure if thats a problem with nautilus or something else. Also, file-roller doesn't open when I select an archive, instead, it just restarts nautilus. File-roller works when I start it first and then open an archive, so it might just be a Nautilus problem, I can't be sure.
