Hi all,

I have Ubuntu installed on a laptop which has a different keyboard layout than my external keyboard. The laptop is German, while the external keyboard has the US layout. I used to use a similar applet under KDE where you could switch your keyboard layouts with one click.

Under GNOME, however, the keyboard layout keeps resetting itself to the default value - German, which is pretty annoying when you're trying to type something with the other keyboard.

Under "Keyboard Preferences" I disabled the switch "Separate layout for each window" assuming that this is the behavior I want. I'd like to just choose my layout once and then have it activated until I change it again.

I have found numerous bugs associated with the Keyboard Indicator applet, however I am not sure if the culprit is the applet or the GNOME configuration application.

If you have any ideas, please let me know, this is annoying.

Thanks,
Stephan
