    Do I have wireless

I am using a Compaq presario computer with Windows Vista basic installed. I have the intstall cd and I have been using it to figure out the basics of Ubuntu but I have no wireless connection- or rather no access to my wireless hardware. Is this a problem with the CD live version or is it a problem with the OS itself? Is it fixable with downloadable software? Feel free to give me a step by step.

    Re: Do I have wireless

When running the live cd, the wireless doesn't function. I don't think it's ever functioned probably because it would have to try and figure out what wireless card is involved. If you aren't planning to wipe out vista completely why don't you log into vista and install the cd via the windows drivers. Then you will be able to log in to vista or ubuntu and if you find you don't like ubuntu you can uninstall it on vista via Add/Remove Programs.
