    Red face Do not mount an external hard drive

    I join the PC with Ubuntu 8.04 external hard disk Western Digital at 160 gigaybayt and nothing happens!
    blkid did not see the new disk, gParted - too.
    How to mount disk (preferably automatically)?

    If you go to Places, does the drive show up in the list, and just not mount?
    If you see it, click it. it should show up on your desktop mounted. if not we may need a more technical solution.

    Has the external hard drive been used with Windows? I know my laptop (running Ubuntu 8.04) will not see external drives that have been used in Windows where I have not have a clean shut down. To get Ubuntu to see them I have had to boot into windows and then shut down and boot back into Ubuntu.

    bittenmonkey, you were right - throughout the fault Windows XP, which incorrectly completing the session with the disc. Suffice it correctly off the drive in Windows, and he earned excellent in Ubuntu 8.04
