    black screen in video playbak

    I'm new to Ubuntu (two days...), and I tried to fix a problem with jerky video playback (ATI x200 card) by typing aticonfig --overlay-type=Xv in the terminal, which left me with no video at all...

    I would love to get some advice on how to fix this.

    This post got me up and running with my ATI video setup. Go to System > Administration > Hardware Drivers and make sure the ATI driver is enabled. I'm a noob too but hope this helped.

    the ati driver is enabled, I just messed things up by typing aticonfig --overlay-type=Xv and I'm trying to fix that.
