Wireless Keyboard and Mouse via Network
I'm interested in using a concept similar to VNC except I do not want to send the graphics to the client. I want to be able to use my laptop as a remote keyboard and mouse for my Ubuntu 7.10 based HTPC. As an HTPC, it is connected to a 52" LCD HDTV and has no local keyboard and mouse. I want to be able to play games on the HTPC/HDTV and wanted to avoid getting a standard USB keyboard/mouse because they are hard to use in your lap on the living couch.
It seems sending the keyboard and mouse traffic requires little bandwidth and would be adequate even for games. I have tried VNC for this, but it does not like it when the game starts up and goes to fullscreen. The mouse control goes away, yet a local mouse works. Thanks.
Re: Wireless Keyboard and Mouse via Network
I found a program that can (almost) do what I want. It's called Synergy. The only thing I can't get working is that when the Ubuntu box switches to fullscreen mode for games such as Quake4, I lose the mouse. Anyone have experience using Synergy with games?
