    Laptop doesn't hibernate after closing

My laptop hibernates just fine -- IF I manually tell it to hibernate. However, I have it set up to hibernate when the laptop is closed, yet when I open it up I get a message saying that "the machine did not hibernate properly", and on one occasion it did not hibernate at all (I didn't find out until I went to use it again and it was hot from running the whole hour I had it in my bag thinking it was off).

Does anyone know how to get it to properly hibernate when I close my laptop?

Me and my friend are having a smiler problem. When I close the laptop lid it seems to hibanate but when I open it up it dosent responed to anything I do, I just get a black screen? I am running Xubuntu 8.04 LTS (Impresed so far by the way) And my friend is running Ubuntu 8.04 LTS and when my friend try to see if it worked on his laptop it did the same thing?

Anybody know what this could be?
