Question N00b needs help with Atmel wireless card

    Hi,

I've just installed Ubuntu 8.04 on my laptop and I love it. The only thing is I cant get my wireless card to work. it is an Atmel card (Planet WL-3552 11Mbps (802.11b) Wireless LAN PC Card) and I have found Linux drivers that are supposed to work here http://atmelwlandriver.sourceforge.net/downloads.html and also this which explains some more http://www.edworthyuk.co.uk/wl-3552.shtml I have also tried to install the drivers that work with windows using ndiswrapper and the GUI thing that helps you install them from the menu but it kept saying invalid driver (for the windows ones). It looks like you can install the driver but I am a complete noob, would someone be able to give me step by step instuctions on how to do this, I haven't used Linux before so the more basic the better. Thanks to anyone that can help

Did you try the windows xp driver for ndiswrapper?

Try a few other from the same manufacturer.

Hi, yeah, I copied the xp drivers (with sys and inf files all in the same folder) and then tried all the Nt ones and windows 2000 ones but non seemed to work. Then I downloaded the drivers from the above link but I don't quite know what to do with them? Do I need to compile them or somthing?
