RapidWeaver alternative

I'm quite fond of RapidWeaver for the OS X. It's simple to use and powerful. I really like how you can apply styles really easily. Is there a close equivalent for Linux. I'm thinking that there isn't

I'm aware of Kompozer and Nvu - but they're far from close.

Re: RapidWeaver alternative

I think that most linux users would use a text editor to do web pages...

Re: RapidWeaver alternative

Below is quoted from the Full Circle Magazine (issue 10, p.32, 'Q&A'). Although it is the alternatives to Dreamweaver, the answer maybe be sufficient for you.

Q: What is the best alternative to Dreamweaver on Ubuntu?
A:If you must have the WYSIWYG editor, KompoZer is available in the repositories , and should do everything you need. If it is not for you, you could try Quanta Plus, which also has a WYSIWYG editor plus thousands of other powerful features and is quite similar to Dreamweaver. For syntax high lighting text editors see gEdit (Ubuntu) and Kate (Kubuntu).

This is your best bet. Kompozer is the sustained fork of Nvu, and should be quite functional for you. It's cross-platform, so you can try it out in OSX first (although IIRC, it doesn't have an Universal/Intel build yet).

As for saying that most Linux users would use a text editor to build web pages, that's like saying that most LInux users would give a snarky, elitist answer instead of an informative and useful one: it might be true, but since it doesn't help anyone, why say it?

The intention was to say, there is not much "dreamweaver-like" or "rapidweaver-like" software in linux because there is not a big interest in it. He already said that he didn't want to use Kompozer anyway.
