802.11n Broadcom card STILL not supported?!?

Grrr, I installed the latest Ubuntu (8.04 LTS), hoping my Broadcom 4321 would finally be supported for my MacBook & its still a no go. This is also the same card they use in the Mac Pros I believe.

Anyone know how to make this work??

Re: 802.11n Broadcom card STILL not supported?!?

It only works with ndiswrapper. This will not change until Broadcom decides to actually create (or help create) a driver for linux. (They have not ever shown any intention to do so or even seemed to have considered it). The other 'drivers' for linux are basically hacks, created by reverse engineering. Unfortunately, this takes lots of time, and I don't see these cards being supported out-of-the-box, or even with some restricted drivers anytime in the foreseeable future.

Thanks.

Yeah, I was afraid of that. Im a Linux noob still so hacking & rebuilding isn't something I can do quite yet.

Isn't it possible for someone who has reverse engineered this already to just make a 3rd party driver that can be easily installed??

People haven't reverse engineered it yet. If it was that easy, there would be drivers already.
There are legal implications and license incompatibilities to be considered as well.
