Re: Apt-get update GPG errors

are you talking about this error message?

Code:
W: GPG error: http://it.archive.ubuntu.com breezy-updates Release: The following signatures were invalid: BADSIG 40976EAF437D05B5 Ubuntu Archive Automatic Signing Key <ftpmaster@ubuntu.com>
I don't know the cause of it...

is there anyone else who has the same problem?

I'm getting exactly the same on a 100% clean Breezy install.

Or, the alternative, suggested by another thread here at UF is to use aptitude or apt-get from the command line with the --allow-unauthenticated switch as in:

apt-get dist-upgrade --allow-unauthenticated

This will still spit out an error at you whenever you do an apt-get update, but it will essentially ignore gpg based error messages....good stuff if you have to get a server up.

Cheers,
Craig

Oh, and while I'm in a less than charitable mood, why on earth we don't have a sane (re: easy to find) fallback from the gpg package authentication thingy is beyond me.

There aren't any breezy backports yet. They'll be up in a few months, probably after the Dapper features freeze.
