C300A/Abit BH6 Xubuntu box won't see wireless card

I have an old computer that I've been setting up with Xubuntu Linux 7.10 as a Christmas surprise for my Dad. It's an old old Celeron 300A, with 192 megs of RAM and an Abit BH-6 motherboard.

The wireless card I put in is a Dynex DX-WGDTC, which is, according to the reviews I find on the 'net, supposed to be one of the best wireless cards it's possible to get for Linux, and it's supposed to work for Ubuntu right out of the box. And in the Xubuntu box it used to be in, my newer Athlon 2600+ machine, it did indeed work.

But in this older one, Xubuntu won't notice it at all, either the installation on the hard drive or if I boot the CD as a LiveCD. When I do a lspci on the machine it doesn't even notice the card is there, and I've tried it in three different slots, including one that I took its working wired Ethernet card out of a moment ago. And I've verified that the wireless card still works by remounting it in my newer Linux box, and it detected it just fine.

(Unfortunately the old machine isn't currently connected to the Internet at the moment, as it's a room away from my Ethernet box, so I can't copy and paste stuff. I guess I'll have to move it back tomorrow so I can.)

Is the mobo just too old to work with this kind of card? Or is there something else I need to do to get it to work? Any alternate wireless solutions for the old Abit?
