Hi, I have been using Ubuntu for a few months and have gotten hooked to it. But recently, I started to have an annoying problem.
Occasionally, the launcher will freeze. Clicking on icons to start a program does not work; I can only open programs by going into the dash. This sometimes resolves itself after I open one or two programs; but after a while, it might start in again, usually with a quickly-flashing arrow pointing at one of the open programs (either Firefox or Thunderbird, usually).
This started after I installed the CompizConfig Settings Manager, which immediately caused other display problems, so I uninstalled it. However, these glitches have remained since then.
I upgraded a week ago from Ubuntu 12.04 to 12.10, which has not solved the problem, but seems to have made it a little worse (it also boots up more slowly). I am working in a WUBI setup, with Windows 7.
Has anybody else encountered this problem, or have any suggestions?
