    VLC / screenblank / KDE / powerdevil

When watching a movie with VLC in kubuntu 12.04 the screen powers off after a few minutes unless power management is turned off.

In 11.10 I was able to create a movie watching power profile that dealt with this problem but powerdevil in 12.04 seems to have done away with the idea of profiles.

VLC should be able to suppress the screen saver and the power management and these options are enabled but they don't work.

Any suggestions? It is right annoying to have to turn power management on and off for my laptop.

Bump - is this question in the wrong place?
