I have a Lenovo Y460 dual booting ubuntu 12.04 and win 7 with lenovo energy management and have encountered something strange.

When i set lenovo energy management in win 7 to "battery lifespan" mode, it will charge to about 70% instead of 100%, supposedly to extend the battery lifespan.

However, when I boot into Ubuntu, the setting still takes effect and my battery does not charge beyond 70%.

I am curious as to where the setting is stored, since it is persistent across multiple OSes. It cant be in my Win7 installation. Can such power settings be stored in BIOS or in the battery?
