After persevering with Ubuntu and Thunderbird for almost a 9 months, and already having made the decission to to go back to MS, this latest sinarior is worth the telling. It is only my current health that has stopped me reformatting my HD and going back to MS 7
I have not been well for the past week still no where near 100%, I am having enough difficulty writing this message, also to add to the agrivation the Google spell checker has failed to correct anything for about 2 weeks, I can only put it down to a Ubuntu updates, so if there are mistakes, right now I dont care.
2 days ago I needed to print a Thunderbird email. Easy enough but a total ballsup. Instead of getting 1 sheet, by the time i went from this laptop to the networked printer in another part of the house, there were over 100 sheets of paper all with the same dark smudge down one side. If it were not for a paper jam the paper tray would have been empited. I retried the reprint with the same effect but only 2 sheets before I stopped it. I did a test print all OK.
I am not even going to bother to work ouit what whent wrong, I just cannot be assed. I like/d Ubuntu, but if it cannot maintain reliability it has no place in my life. Maybe next year.
No doubt someone is going to blame Thunderbird. I am not going to get in to a conversation about blame. I cannot aford the paper or the time. I have always used paid-for software, its a necessity in my b usiness, but I am near retirement and I cannot afford to keep up with the latest MS issue. I would like tosupport Ubuntu but it has to take the lead and give me a reliable platform
