Steam can't update on Ubuntu 12.04 VMware player

Hi,

I've installed Steam Beta for Ubuntu 12.04 from http://www.webupd8.org/2012/11/how-t...right-now.html
by following written instructions.
Unfortunately, in first start, Steam can't complete update and breaks down as seen below



By the way, I use Ubuntu on VMware Player. I don't know whether the update problem is caused from the installation on virtual machine or something else.

Could you help me to solve problem? Thanks in advence!

i have same problem with you. in the morning i can start steam and in the afternoon can't until now.
