How Can I Downgrade Bios

Since my return to Ubuntu I can't get my dvd-rw working properly and would like to downgrade my bios can it be done with the way dell runs it's support site I'm using chrome and using a dell 1545 laptop? 64-bit Ubuntu

Hi, no once the bios is upgraded you are stuck with it.

But unless you know exactly what you are doing I wouldn't recommend to attempt it.

Hi, that package it says you need to install does not exist in 12.04 and the directions are for 8.10 I believe.

You can follow this howto and the run the update exe with the "/forceit" parameter.

Incorrect, you can downgrade via USB boot and using the /forceit switch.
