Media Center

What are the best media centers?
I used to use Boxee on an old windows box, but I want something that'll be a little more.... consistant.... So I plan to set up a media center on an old fanless itx board with Ubuntu.. (I tried raspbmc on the RasPi but it was a bit lethargic).

Is Mythbuntu still a thing? Anyone tried the full XBMC? What else is there?

While there are a few, I haven't used anything other than XBMC in a long time; I think it's awesome.

I should give it a go sometime then, does XBMC lookup show details on IMDB like Boxee does? I understand the GUI is very customisable, I like the idea of that, but I also do like getting a description of each episode of the TV shows I watch

IMDB is one of the possible scrapers (scrapers pull information from a particular site), indeed! It is very customisable, and there are many skin available.

There are a few, but I've only used the bbc iplayer add-on very occasionally. I suppose I'm technically using a few, but that's the only one I've directly installed.

I will probably be using that one, especially if I have it ready for the new series of Top Gear... Is there a youtube app? I used that a lot on Boxee, I also used the colledge humour and escapist magazine apps...

There is indeed, although I've not used it beyond the movie trailer features.
