fstab cifs mount fails since update today on 12.04.1

cifs mounts in fstab no longer connect after updating today to 3.2.0-34-generic-pae today.

The update was performed normally through software manager and no errors were reported.

What is the error message when the system attempts to mount the shares? Have you tried to mount manually?

Alas no error messages showning. Tried a manual mount also and it just sits there after requesting a password and never comes back.

Since then I've rebooted twice and since the second reboot it is now connecting. No other changes were made.
