more than one totum player at one time

If I remember correctly, about a year ago when I first tried ubuntu (I believe it was intrepid) totum would open more than one player at a time.
I'm currently running karmic. But it only opens one.
Would someone kindly direct me to a way to have it open 2 at a time?
I really need two to play at the same time so I can closely examine subtle differences between videos.
    Thanks everybody,

I'm not sure you can run 2 instances of the 1 totem available in karmic, though it's certainly possible if you have both totem (gstreamer
    ) and totem (xine)
You'd have to build yourself a working totem-xine, in lieu of that maybe install vlc which will allow multiple instances (probably some other players also

If your set on 2 totems and wish to build a working totem-xine see here

    Hi Mc,

    Thanks for replying.
I'll have to give that one a try. I have not been too successful with compiling. I couldn't com kino, or blender 2.5.

But didn't one of the earlier versions run more than one from the install? If so, I wonder why it got changed. This was one of the first things I noticed with linux. And I liked it.
I guess it's like so many other things that come and go..

If you are running ubuntu quantal you can use my ppa. I build a totem version which includes a `--no-existing-session` command.

    You can find packages here:
