It was with great joy that I first loaded Ubuntu (around version 9, as I recall). Each upgrade brought some excitement, and unlike other desktop-oriented distros, Ubuntu just worked. Then, with 11.04 came Unity, and the community complained. No problem, I could switch to Ubuntu Classic. Then with 11.10, you took that away, and the community complained. Then with 12.04, you made it worse by further hiding access to applications. In the two days that I jumped from 11.04 to 12.04, I was simply no longer able to work.
When you take away choice, and the community complains, and you stop listening, it's no longer open source. I have switched from Ubuntu, and I have my desktop back. I am able to work again - without Ubuntu.
