usbcore module missing!

Hello,

I really need help here. I'm trying to get a usb/serial device working on a laptop right now. I'm using wine to run the program and I've used this setup in the past. The problem is the program I am running opens, but won't run because its looking for a COM port that is in use.

I noticed that the usbcore module was not loaded. Upon running modprobe usbcore I receive: FATAL: Module usbcore not found.

I'm running CentOS, but I'm hoping someone on these forums can help me out. I've been doing a lot of searching and cannot get a clear explanation on how to install the usbcore module.
