As many of you may know we have created a U+1 testing team to do a better job of reporting bugs, and generally to make things better for all during the testing cycle. To that end, we have created a wiki where a lot of information regarding testing is available. You don't have to be a team member to be able to test QQ, testing is open to everyone regardless of your experience level. That being said, to get the most possible feedback from your bug reports, check this out, before creating a bug report:

I wouldn't consider this "solved", because in the UDS Kate pushed back a bunch of dates that haven't been updated yet.

I had been using the Quantal Alpha 3 and just downloaded Quantal beta 2 twice as a matter of fact from 2 different sites.

The first was the official site (http://releases.ubuntu.com/12.10/) and the second was from softpedia.

Both times the md5sum matched perfectly and when I tried to install it, the screen just went to garbage. Just random pieces of a desktop.

I could not see anything nor was I able to do anything. This is not my first install and I cannot figure out what the problem could be.

I formatted the DVD-RW before both installation attempts. Everything looked normal. Ubuntu dots running across the middle for a while, then garbage.

Thanks for providing that info. I added my name to the bug. Glad to see it's not just me.
That bug talks about using a live-cd and says it was fixed with a kernel update but, if you remove Quantal via Gparted and try to install Quantal from the beta 2 CD/DVD.
It's not going to happen.

Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

The beta 2 image is just that, an image of the daily live, at that point in time, and we won't see it fixed. To see the latest, use the daily live.

Thank you cariboo907! I'll try that! I have never had any luck with the daily builds but, maybe that has been fixed.

The daily build was good. Almost done "touching it up".
I should have thought of that. You live and learn and with Ubuntu there's always stuff to learn.
