alloc magic broken

alloc magic is broken at 0x7ff79760

i just moved, and we've had a small power failure, now when booting it reboots several times before giving the above error... help?

its ubuntu 10.04

and the error comes up before i can get to the boot selection menu, and thus, the cd will not boot... :S

Do you mean the boot selection menu of the BIOS, since it seems you attempt to boot from a CD? If that is true, it would point to a problem with the BIOS rather than Ubuntu.

yes, i do... the boot menu wont open, or anything... and the error doesnt have any refeence on google, or anything... i dont know if its a ram issue, bios, or what else it could be... :S

the bios console opens properly too...
