    Wifi Direct and Ubuntu

So my cell phone (a galaxy nexus, running cyanogenmod 9) just got the ability to do wifi direct added to its functionality. I love the idea of a super-fast bluetooth equivalent. Is there any way to use this to connect my phone directly to my Ubuntu-running laptop?

Throwing all of my cables in the trash,

    HI

Did you get to use this feature with your Ubuntu? I'm in the same position, wanting to get rid of all the cables

I wish! The closest I've gotten is running the phone as an FTP server using swiftp, which is clunky and old-fashioned. Still beats having to lug cables around though...
