    Question amd64 with i386 packages

    Hello,

Recently, after upgrading my laptop to Ubuntu 12.04 amd64, I noticed that apt-get installs a series of i386 packages along with the amd64 packages.

    apt-get shows them as <pkg name>:i386

Is this a wanted behavior? Or have I messed around with something?

    Cheers.

I'm pretty sure it's okay. Some packages are made only in 32 bit form. Since you have a 64bit processor you have double the necessary memory space.

Ok, nice. Thank you for the reply!

Just for a bit of background information:
I don't remember that happening on 10.04. Has this been added recently or I've been overlooking that years? LOL

    Thanks.
